Internship Program is a company training that must be conducted at the end of semester. Internship Program can give the opportunity to the students for applying their skills and competences that they have already got from practicum and lecturing classes. This activity must be done by all students from each study program in order to graduate from Politeknik Negeri Jember. In doing Internship Program, I decided to choose Kusuma Agrowisata Batu as the place of my Internship Program.
Kusuma Agrowisata Batu is an agrotourism that offers a picking fresh fruits sensation directly from the plantation area and other interesting facilities. There are a lot of tourists who visit this tourism object, not only domestic tourists but also foreign tourists. Kusuma Agrowisata provides several kinds of division, they are reception division, marketing division, outbound division, Alamanda resto division and guiding division in order to give the best services to the tourists.
In doing the Internship Program, I was placed in Agrotourism division. There were some general activities that I did in Agrotourism division such as activities done in Reception Subdivision, Marketing Subdivision, Outbound Subdivision, Alamanda Resto Subdivision and Guiding Subdivision. Each subdivision has different functions in order to give the best services to the guests who visit Kusuma Agrowisata Batu.
From the general activities above, I focused on being a guide in guiding division because I could spend much time in interacting and communicating with the tourists directly, especially the foreign tourists. There were several main activities that I did when guiding the foreign tourist, they were welcoming the guests, guiding the guests to the fruit plantation area, answering their questions related to Kusuma Agrowisata itself, and closing the guiding activity.
By doing the Internship Program in Kusuma Agrowisata, I got a new job experience that is very valuable for me. I can learn the different characteristics of so many tourists who I guided, their backgrounds, their accents and others. I hope that those valuable experiences will be beneficial for me in my next working place.
