Subtitling Videos Of How To Run A Meeting for Vocational High School In Jember, Ayu Livinta Inalyatik, NIM F31140147, 2017, 45 pages, Language, Communication and Touurism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Nila Susanti, S.S, M.Pd (First Supervisor), Fitri Wijayanti, S.Pd, M.Ed (Second Supervisor).
Subtitling Videos of How To Run A Meeting for Vocational High School in Jember is a product of final project which is based on the need in the teaching and learning process in Humas dan Protokol subject, Official Administration, SMK Negeri 1 Jember. In teaching-learning process the teacher only used text book-based materials. She did not use other teaching media to support the learning process. This condition made the students could not catch the point of materials effectively. For the additional learning media I provided two English videos that support the teaching-learning process related with the subject. But the teacher felt afraid if the videos used English language. So, I gave alternative ways to make the students understands about the materials in the videos, that was make a subtitle.
This project focused on making Bahasa Indonesia subtitle of English videos entitle How To Run A Meeting by adapting some translation procedures from Newmark (1988) in Sari et al (2013), they are Word-for-word translation, Literal Translation, Free Translation, and Communicative translation and also the translation theories from Suryawinata and Hariyanto (2003) in Budianto and Fardhani (2010), they are Addition, Transposition, Borrowing and Synonym. I used those procedures because they were easy and simple to be applied in translating the transcript of the videos.
In finishing the product of the final project, I got several problems, such as in listening in videos, because the speaker spoke too fast. There were unfamiliar words that the speaker said related with meeting, so I could not write down the script easily. Based on the problem, I had to replay the videos for many times to catch the content of the videos. I also found difficulties in translating the source

language of the videos to the target language. I had to pay more attention in translating the script to the target languge or Bahasa Indonesia, so that the translation result would be acceptable and comprehensible without changing the content of the videos.
During the process of finishing this final project, I was able to apply the language skills, especially in listening and writing skills. Especially, improving the listening skill in listen to what the speaker said before writing it down and translating into Bahasa Indonesia.
Making Bahasa Indonesia subtitle of How to Run A Meeting videos would give advantages for the teacher of Humas dan Protokol subject who used the videos as the supporting media in teaching – learning activity.
