ABSTRACT

Along with the increased of Indonesian population, the increased of need for source of vegetable protein, especially soybeans as food and industrial raw materials would continue to increased. One of the threats in an effort to increased soybean production was pest. The purposed of this research was to know the level of resistance of 17 genotypes of soybean plants against attack of Army worm S. litura. Procurement of Army worm that was by taking directly from BALITKABI Malang. Its prepared by the related parties. The worm are stored in a closed container jar with jatropha leaf feeding for the worm to maintained optimum conditions, in the journey for approximately 4-5 hours among Jember-Malang. Soybeans plants tested at 1.5 months old. Plants was infested 75 larvae of S.litura from 3rd instar. It previously maintained in laboratory for one week. Before infested, all of Army worm conditioned in hungry condition during 2 hours. genotype that has a very high resistance to attacked by Army worms was genotype 1 (GHJ - 6) with the intensity was reached 33.18%, production of seeds per plant reached 15,927 gr and the second with value was not different significantly that was genotype 3x2 (Willis X GHJ - 7) with the intensity of attacked reached 33.33%, production of seeds per plant reached 17,377gr.
