Internship program is a main activity in implementation of education on
State Polytechnic of Jember. Internship program is activity of students in the last
semester to learn and practice the activities in company or industry so they can
improve their skills. In conducting Internship Program, the writer chooses Royal
Hotel N’ Lounge as place of Internship Program. It is because Royal Hotel N’
Lounge is one of hotel in Jember that have many customer that always use the
services of this hotel. This hotel also has a great hospitality and excellent services.
Therefore, the writer believes that this hotel is a good place to apply the
knowledge that had learn in college especially the subject for English for Hotel
and Restaurant.
The internship program had been conducted for three months started from
8th March 2017 up to 8th May 2017. In conducting this program, the writer was
placed in Front Office Department as a receptionist. As a receptionist, the writer
had duties to give the excellent service to the guest. The excellent services were
given through some activities such as handling hotel room reservation, handling
check-in and check-out process, answering local and inter-local phone, and
dealing with complaints. In doing those activities, the writer found some problems
such as the writer felt nervous in dealing with the guest but it could be handled
well. After finishing the internship programs in Royal Hotel N’ Lounge, the writer
could know the components that exist within the organization so it could run
properly. The writer also gets new knowledge and experience in hotel fields
especially in front office department.
