Technical Text Translation, A Translation Activity in TransBahasa Malang, Abdul Kadir, Nim. F31140952, Year 2017, 48 pages, Language, Communication, and Tourism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Enik Rukiati, S.Pd., M.Pd (Supervisor) and Iwan Kurniarahman S.S (Field Supervisor).


For the student of the state of polytechnic Jember, internship program or “Praktek Kerja Lapang (PKL)” is the way to get the experience about professional translation works. Internship Program or “Praktek Kerja Lapang (PKL)” is one way that can be taken to gain work experience before the student enters the real activities in the workplace. The goal of internship program is to make students feel the activities so that students can apply directly knowledge and skills that have been studied with the actual work in the company. The writer chooses TransBahasa to conduct his Internship Program. In this company, the writer can apply knowledge that has been gathered from the college such as Translation, Writing, and Structure. TransBahasa is located at Perum Joyogrand block X/157, Merjosari-Lowokwaru, Malang, East Java.
As one of internship students, the writer has to do all activities in the company to get more knowledge and experience. The main duty in TransBahasa is translating text from client. The writer main duty was translating text especially technical text. The writer also has responsibility to make sure the results of translation are acceptable. In the process the writer met several problems. One of the problem is the writer is unfamiliar with some term in technical text as that term has specific meaning on specific technical text. To solve that problem the writer tried to find the meaning of terms of that specific text on internet. The writer also with In addition, the writer also did other activities as translator of TransBahasa such as making a termbase of certain translation for other translator work and assisting on conducting seminar. Therefore, this report contains about the writer’s activities, problem and its solution during doing Internship Program in TransBahasa, especially as translator, and the suggestions from the writer. The suggestions are for English Study Program student to prepare the skill on Translation and CAT tools, for TransBahsa to give toturing to the trainee first, and to English Study Program to teach about CAT tools.
