Internship program is an activity of applying skills and knowledge that already got by student from college in real workplace. Internship program conducted in the end of semester in order to graduate from State Polytechnic of Jember. I decided to conduct the internship program at Ijen View Hotel and Resort Bondowoso because I could apply my skills and knowledge related with English for Hotel and Restaurant, Public Speaking, Public Relation and English for Correspondence. I was placed in Marketing department and spent 384 hours during the internship program.
There were several activities in Marketing department such as handling event reservation, making contract rate, making BEO (Banquet Event Order), doing MOD (Manger on Duty), handling the event and give information to the foreign guest. However from all of those activities, I only focus on handling guest who wants to organize wedding event. Starting form wedding event reservation, determining the places and packages, making wedding BEO (Banquet Event Order) and checking the event.
During the internship program, I learnt many things that I never get before. Because of the main activity in Marketing department is communicate with guest, I learnt about how to communicate with customer nicely, being humble and keep calm when handling a talkative customer. It was very meaningful for me because it can boost my confident in speaking and public relation.
