SUMMARY

ORGANIZING MEETING EVENT IN SALES MARKETING DEPARTMENT OF IJEN VIEW HOTEL AND RESORT BONDOWOSO. Putri Sukmawati. F31141242. Language, Communication and Tourism Department. Politeknik Negeri Jember. Siti Aisyiyah, S.Pd. M.Pd. (Supervisor).

Politeknik Negeri Jember has a learning system that the student must have good quality and able to compete in work place after graduating from Politeknik Negeri Jember. The learning system that supports the student to apply their skill and able to compete in work place is called Internship Program. Internship program is the activity of applying skill and knowledge that student got from the college in real workplace. It must be done for the student of English study program in the sixth semester. The goal of internship program is to make student can apply directly knowledge and skills that have been studied with the actual work in the company. This report describes my activities when I conduct my internship program at Ijen View Hotel and Resort Bondowoso. I choose Ijen View Hotel because that hotel is one of an appropriate workplace to apply my skill and knowledge that I got from college like English for Secretary, English for Hotel and Restaurant, Public speaking and Public Relation in the real work.
I conducted my internship program during 384 hours in Sales Marketing Department. I did all of activities at there like making and sharing Banquet Event Order (BEO), making and sending Rate Contract, doing Manager on Duty, handling guest who want to organize event. In additional, I also helped Banquet section in arranging decoration, set up table and chair. However from all of activity that I did, I still focus on my duties that were handling guest who want to organize meeting like reservation, determining packages, determining place and lay out, and also making Banquet Event Order (BEO). In additional when I conducted my internship program, especially in organizer meeting, I could apply my skill in Public Speaking, Public Relation, English for Secretary and English for hotel and Restaurant that I got from college. But unfortunately, I got some problem when I conducted internship progam like there was something wrong of accounting information in making BEO and being nervous when handle guest. But I could handle it by some procedures, such as asking my senior and doing standard operational procedure of the hotel.
Therefore, I was happy when I conducted internship program at Ijen View Hotel and Resort. Because, most of the employee are friendly to me especially Sales Marketing. They gave me a trust to handle the duties, they gave me instruction in the first week and they gave me responsible to work in the next week but they are still monitored and gave me feedback after I finished my duties.
