Internship program is one of compulsory academic program conducted by
university or college. It is aimed to create competent graduates and also a medium
for developing skill of student. In addition, internship program was also absolute
prerequisite of graduation especially for Politeknik Negeri Jember.
As a vocational education, Politeknik Negeri Jember focuses on skill
improvement to ward human resource by strengthening the basic skill and
knowledge. To finish this program, the student should be join all meeting in
lecturing class, join all of examination, completely with finishing final project and
conduct the internship program. I took forward to choose Paiton Resort Hotel as
the place for conduct internship program. In addition to apply my English skill in
general and specific English, prepare myself to be professional and increase my
knowledge. This internship program also has some significances as the references
for me, for the student of English study program, for Politeknik Negeri Jember
and for Paiton Resort Hotel. I conducted the internship program for 64 days or
512 hours.
Paiton Resort Hotel had an organizational structure that consisted of two
Department, those were: Administrational and Financial Department such as :
Receptionist/ Front Office, Book keeper, Cost Control, General Chasier, Human
Resort Management, second is Operational Department such as : Housekeeping
Department and Food & Baverage. Many activities when I conducted the
internship program at Paiton Resort Hotel especially in Front Office division, such
as handling coming and outgoing letter; writing; typing; printing; scanning;
designing, making a book reservation, making an order event. I was being front
office staff. Beside doing activity in the office, I also did an activity outside theviii
office by visiting some tourism object such as visit to Bromo Mountain, visited to
Song Adventure Tourism place.
I focused on the activity as the Receptionist at Paiton Resort Hotel. Those
activity were Handling a Book Reservation via E-mail. There were some
problems when I did some job but I can solve those problem by asking to any staff
on there. Based on the problem, I could learn many things that I did not got when
I did lecturing or practicum class. So, I was very grateful caused by relationship
between Politeknik Negeri Jember and Paiton Resort Hotel.
