SUMMARY
Developing a Tourism Booklet of The Epic Journey in Bangkalan, Rizki Kurniawan, F31140338, 2018, 25 Pages, Language, Communication and Tourism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Siti Aisyiyah, S.Pd., M.Pd (First Supervisor) and Alfi Hidayatu Miqawati, S.Pd., M.Pd (Second Supervisor).
Nowadays, tourism is being something needed by many people as media for refreshing their live or to do something in other place that can be calm the heart and mind. One of tourism object in Indonesia is located in Bangkalan. Bangkalan regency is a small city located in East Java. It has many potential tourism objects that need to be introduced to foreign and domestic tourists. Based on the preliminary study that I conducted to the head of Tourism Department of Bangkalan, I saw that the booklet of this department used as a media of promotion does not contain complete information that is really needed by the visitors. Therefore, I decided to develop a tourism booklet entitled “The Epic Journey in Bangkalan” that covers the information about complete information in bilingual version to fulfill the visitors’ need. In developing a Tourism Booklet in bilingual version, I did seven steps modified from Ardhi (2013). There are considering purpose of promotion, determining target audience, determining media promotion, budgeting, providing the concept, revision, and production. I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 for editing and I also asked a help for editor who were expert in creating this Tourism Booklet. This Tourism Booklet provides information about tourism objects and culture of Bangkalan for visitors who will visit Bangkalan. Besides, the Tourism Booklet describes history about tourism objects of Bangkalan, it is supported with interesting pictures and detail explanation. This Tourism Booklet was printed by A5 art carton special for picture. After I finished my Tourism Booklet, I asked the comments and suggestions from two of my supervisors to make my booklet better. Besides, I asked the feedback from The head of Tourism Department of Bangkalan. I faced some hindrances during conducting this project. I designed myviii Tourism Booklet by myself. However, I could not edit the design. Therefore, I hired an editor who helped me to edit the design of our product. I made my tourism booklet as a media promotion to help Tourism Department of Bangkalan to promote Tourism Objects in Bangkalan that can be used as a reference for foreign tourist who want to visit Bangkalan for spending their holiday. In conducting my project, I found that it was not too easy to make a Tourism Booklet. It is difficult but challenging to be finished. Therefore, I do hope that my Tourism Booklet can be useful for Tourism Department of
Bangkalan.
