ABSTRACT.
The successfull of potato cultivation is determined by quality of seeds. One effort to improve the viability and the growth of potato seeds is by utilizing of growth regulator. This research was conducted for 3.5 months starting from November 2016 until February 2017 and implemented in Seed Technology Laboratory and UPT Jember State Polytechnic Highway. This research uses Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) which consists of 2 factors. The first factor using seed source from 2nd generation (S1), 3rd generation (S2), 4th generation (S3), and 5th generation (S4). The second factor (Factor K) was without soaking onion extract (K0), onion extract concentration 5% (K1), onion extract concentration 10% (K2), and 15% onion extract concentration (K3). The results showed that immersing potato seeds on onion extract showed no significant difference in all observation parameters, but showed significantly different results on the use of seed sources from different generations that is on the initial weight parameter of the seeds, when first appeared bud, the number of shoots , shoot length, percentage of rot, percentage of sprout, and plant height after 2 weeks planted on the field.
