ABSTRACT


Heat Exchanger or heat exchanger is a device that functions to exchange heat between two different temperature fluids without mixing the two fluids. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of discharge variation on the Heat Exchanger shell and tube HT 33 type for performance and effectiveness. With variations of debit 1, 1.5, 2, 2,5,3, 3,5 and 4 liters / minute. Heat exchangers used in this test have parallel flow and opposite direction. Cold fluid in the form of water from the heater flows into the heat exchanger, in the heat exhanger cold fluid will receive heat from the hot fluid flowing in the shell which was previously heated by the heater, and after that the cold fluid comes out of the heat exchanger and goes into the machine tool heat exchanger. The results obtained in this study are increased performance which includes changes in heat transfer rates, total heat transfer coefficients, LMTD, NTU, efficiency and changes in effectiveness in heat exchangers.
