Bondowoso is one of the cities in east java which until now still produces batik. Batik is a cultural property that must be maintained and preserved because batik can become an identity for someone. Therefore, batik Bondowoso must be maintained and preserved. Each region has a special motive that can be the identity of an area, for example in Bondowoso. Bondowoso has a typical motif of cassava leaves because the famous Bondowoso with tape city which basic material is cassava. To maintain and preserve batik Bondowoso, it required promotional media to introduce batik Bondowoso to the public.
Based on the interview that has been done with one of the staffs in the tourism department of Bondowoso, the promotion of batik is only done using a general booklet that includes all tourist attractions in Bondowoso and information about batik is only in a brief. Therefore, media that contain special about batik is necessary. Therefore, the writer made a special promotion media of batik Bondowoso in the form of booklet. The writer chose three batik companies in Bondowoso. In the making of booklet, the writer adapted seven theories from Aprilia 2009. They were deciding idea, outlining the booklet, writing the content, revising the booklet, editing the booklet, designing the layout and binding. The writer asked editor who has skill to design booklet.
This booklet explained complete information about batik Bondowoso in title “The Beauty of Cassava Leaves Batik from Bondowoso”. The information included short history of the batik companies, motifs product in each batik company, tools to make batik, process to make batik, prices of batik and location of each batik
companies. The writer hopes this booklet can help batik Bondowoso to be more famous and increase the sale.
