Internship program is one of requirements for students to graduate from Politeknik Negeri Jember. This activities are to prepare the students to face challenges in real workplace.Purnama Hotel Batu is one of the largest hotel in Batu. I choose Purnama Hotel Batuto conduct my internship program because this hotel is an appropriate place to apply my English skills. I could apply all materials that I got from college such as English for Hotel and Restaurants, English for Correspondence, English for Secretary, and Public Speaking.
The internship program has been conductedfor three months or 512 hour which is located inPurnama Hotel Batu Jl. Raya Selekta 1-15 Batu, East Java. It started from 26 March 26th 2018 until 26th June 2018. I was placed in front office department, in there I learned how to handling telephone operator.The assessment will be directly given the guest when we convey greeting and speed in picking up the phone. The operator is assigned to receive or connect the phone, either intended for hotelemployees, or hotel guests. In the first time I got sometroubles during internship program. I asked to my seniors in front office department about how to handlingtelephone operatore.
While doing my internship program I got some trouble because when I handling telephone operatore for the first time, I did not know how to give information and greeting.I got new knowledge and experience at Purnama Hotel Batu. I could apply my English skills and my competences in real work place.After finishing the internship program in Purnama Hotel Batu, it will maintain a good relationship between Purnama Hotel Batu and Politeknik Negeri Jember. It is also beneficial for the students to enrich their knowledge about hotel.
