ABSTRACT

Now bioethanol technology have been up from lignocellulosic material of material that have fibrous such as the peel of edamame. The purpose of this study is to find the influence of variation concentration NaOH (of 1 M, 2 M, and 3 M) and duration of microwave heating  (10 minutes, 20 minutes, and 30 minutes) of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin edamame peel. Data analysis use a gradual method, where the material edamame peel flour was pretreated using NaOH to determine best concentration. Then the best concentration is continued to the pretreatment process by using microwave and NaOH to determine the best heating time. Pretreatment using NaOH show that cellulose was increase, hemicellulose was decrease but lignin also increase as increasing of the concentration. The result of pretreatment by using microwave and NaOH that cellulose increase, hemicellulose and lignin decrease. Analysis micro structure appearance by using SEM test (Scan Electron Microscopy ) shows that the structure of material look changed, broken and not compact. Ethanol yield produced in the best pretreatment is 17,73 %.
