ABSTRACT
The role of heat exchangers is very important in heat exchanger devices because the effectiveness of heat exchangers is generally still low. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of heat exchanger on heat generated and determine the effectiveness of heat exchanger. The Mean Temperature Difference (LMTD) Log Method is used to analyze heat exchangers. Based on the results of the analysis obtained the effectiveness of the Heat Exchanger (HE) for the entire 4-hour test, the temperature of the furnace ranged from 345.3 to 472OC and the temperature of the air inlet of the heat exchanger was between 306.2-507OC. The temperature of the air out of the heat exchanger is in the temperature range between 119.2-227.7OC. The lower pipe wall temperature ranges from 182.1-259.3OC, the central pipe wall temperature ranges from 140.9-198.8OC while the upper pipe wall temperature ranges from 132.7 to 181.4OC. The pipe temperature in the heat exchanger room ranges from 184-254.5OC. The logarithmic average temperature difference based on calculations ranges from 132.9-268.7OC. The heat transferred ranged from 0.11 to 0.23 kJ / hour. The effectiveness of the NTU heat exchanger method ranges from 12.6-18.5 with an average of 14.5. Value of effectiveness based on measurement results 3.
