ABSTRACT
Maize is utilized as the main food in some area. Concomitant increase of person in the world, needs of maize following too. The improvement of maize’s needs is not fulfilled. So it is necessary to do an inovation on cultivation techniques to improve maize seed production with application giberelin (GA3) to increase dry weight of seed corn and defoliation which is can help assimilation process optimally. This research was conducted on July until October 2017 at Seed Technology Laboratory, State Polytechnic of Jember and at Kemirian -Tamanan - Bondowoso. This research is used Randomize Block Design with 2 factors. The First factor is Giberelin (G) which is have 3 levels : G1= Giberelin 75 ppm, G2 = Giberelin 100 ppm dan G3= Giberelin 125 ppm. The Second factor is Defoliation whic is have 4 levels : D1= Defoliasi 57 Days After Panting (DAP), D2= Defoliasi 67 DAP, D3= Defoliasi 77 DAP dan D4= Defoliasi 87 DAP. The result of this research release that Giberelin is not significant in every single parameters, but it is significant on height of the plant in generative phase. Whereas defoliation is not significant (ns) in every single parameter, also there is no interaction between giberelin and defoliation for maize seed production and its quality.
