Deni Purwanti Seed Production Technology Study Program Agricultural Production Department ABSTRACT Decrease of tomato seed production every year was the basic reason for this research, improving cultivation techniques of tomato seed production was the way to improve tomato seed production. Improving cultivation techniques on this research was side shoot pruning and regulating the fruit number. The research was conducted in the field with the Randomized Block Design (RBD) Factorial, with two factors and four replications. The first factor was side shoot pruning with 2 levels, it was (W1) without side shoot pruning and (W2) with side shoot pruning. The second factor was 3 levels, it was (J1) without removing fruit per plant, (J2) leaving 15 fruit per plant, and (J3) leaving 10 fruit per plant. Data research was analized by Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) which showed side shoot pruning very significant effect (**) on plant height, stem diameter, fruit weight, germination percentage, and tretment showed significant effect (*) on 1000 seed weight,. The results of fruit number tretment showed significant effect (*) on growth rate and showed very significant effect (**) on fruit weight , germination percentage and seed production per hectare. The combination of both treatments showed very significant effect (**) on stem diameter and showed non significant (ns) on other parameters.
