ABSTRACK
Nowadays, the palm oil industry in Indonesia is growing significantly. This fact is in line with the increasing number of palm oil mills. It also produce many kinds of waste include fibre and shells. The assumption of 153 tons of waste fibre produced only about 2/3 are used for boiler fuel and the remains just thrown away. One solution is the utilization by converting it into briquettes. This research aims to utilize the waste of palm oil mills and to know the composition of the best quality briquettes produced. The method used is to test samples of briquettes by some parameter test include density value, bulk density value, water content value, ash content value, persistence press value, and the caloric value of materials. The results showed which the best quality briquettes by the composition of the material making up 40%-60% of fibre and shells. It has 1,53% water content, 1,71% of ash content value the persistence press value about 7,259 kg/cm2 and the caloric value of 5.525,716 cal/gr. While the worst quality briquettes by re-composition of 100% fibre, with 3,96% of water content, 3,14% of ash content value, the persistence press value about 3,210 kg/cm2 and the caloric value of 5.089,988 cal/gr.
