ABSTRACT

Seed priming is a preliminary treatment that can be applied to tomato seeds in order to increase the viability. The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of PEG 6000 concentration and the different period of treatment to the viability of Tomat (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) seed. The research was conducted by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors and 12 treatment combinations. The first factor is the concentrations of PEG (C) consisting 10% PEG concentration (C1), 20% PEG concentration (C2),), and 30% PEG concentration (C3). The second factor is the periods of treatment consisting 2 days treatment period (L1), 4 days (L2), 8 days (L3) and 12 days (L4). The best result was The best result is the concentration of PEG treatment, with a concentration of 10% (A1), the parameters of germination, speed of germination, sprouted seeds and simultaneity.

Key words: seed priming, polyethylene glicol (PEG) 6000, viabilitas, Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.</note>
