Muhammad Abdul Fatah Program Studi Teknik Produksi Benih Jurusan Produksi Pertanian ABSTRACT One of methods to increase the seed production and quality of rice (Oryza sativa L.) Ciherang are using SRI (System of Rice Intensification) methods with apply the optimum age of seedling and spacing. The research was held for 4 months, on June 2014 until September 2014 at Tenggiling sub village, Kemiri village, Panti, Jember with a height above 450 m asl. The research was conducted Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was age of seedling consisted of 5, 10, and 15 days after seedling. The second factor was spacing consisted of legowo 2:1, legowo 3:1, and legowo 4:1. The result showed that the age of seedling treatment has significant effect on germination capacity, as well as has high significant effects on growing equality and growing speed. The 15 days showed the best result on these parameters. The spacing treatment has significant effect on plant height at harvest time, and production per clump, as well as has high significant effects on plant height, number of tillers, and number of productive tiller. The spacing legowo 2:1 showed the best result on these parameters. There was interaction between age of seedling and spacing treatment on germination capacity. The 15 days age of seedling and spacing legowo 4:1 produced the best germination capacity. Keywords: Age of Seedling, Spacing, Production and Seed Quality
