ABSTRACT

Vanilla is one of the Indonesian crops plantation that become a mainstay export commodity and foreign exchange. Vanilla is used as a freshener, food fragrance, flavoring, beverage and medicine. This research aims to determine the effect of scion media storage on growth of vanilla cutting. This research was using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) non factorial with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were (L0) placed at room temperature for 7 days (as control), (L1) storage in wooden box with no media for 7 days, (L2) storage in wooden box with newspaper as media for 7 days, (L3) storage in wooden box with banana midrip as media for 7 days, (L4) storage in wooden box with cocopeat as media for 7 days, and (L5) storage in wooden box with sawdust as media for 7 days. The result of this research shows that (L3) storage in wooden box with banana midrip media for 7 days is significant on height of plant, number of segment, fresh weight, and dry weight of plant. However, it is non significant effect on length of root.
